NURNBERG, Germany, Embedded World 2006, Feb. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- QNX Software Systems today announced it was named a winner of the prestigious Embedded Award 2006 at the Embedded World conference. A panel of judges selected the QNX(R) Neutrino(R) Multi-Core Technology Development Kit (TDK) as the best product in the software category for its outstanding technical innovation in embedded technology. This is the second time QNX Software Systems has won the Embedded Award. In 2004, the company was recognized for the groundbreaking architecture of its power management framework.
For over 20 years, QNX Software Systems has been the world's leading provider of multiprocessing RTOS technology. With the introduction of the QNX Neutrino Multi-Core TDK, the company now offers embedded developers the first comprehensive development kit for multi-core processors.
Designed to leverage the full multiprocessing capabilities of multi-core chips, the QNX Neutrino Multi-Core TDK offers asymmetric multiprocessing (AMP), symmetric multiprocessing (SMP), and an innovative new technology called bound multiprocessing (BMP). As a result, developers have the freedom to choose the best multiprocessing model for their multi-core design:
* AMP -- for full developer control and fault tolerance * SMP -- for maximum concurrency and scalability * BMP -- for the fastest code migration and minimum design complexity
"In order to leverage the latest generation of multi-core processors from chip makers such as Freescale and Intel, developers are turning to our Multi- Core TDK to build scalable, reliable, high-performance embedded applications," said Mark Roberts, director of product management, QNX Software Systems. "This award is a testament to our vision as it confirms the importance and market need for software that enables multi-core technology."
