Flextronics Software Systems (FSS), formerly Hughes Software Systems, a global end-to-end communication solutions provider, today announced that Tekelec (Nasdaq:TKLC) has chosen FSS' SS7 stacks and SIP Server Framework to develop its state-of-the-art SIP-SS7 Gateway. SIP-SS7 gateway extends the PSTN based intelligent services to the next-generation IP based VoIP subscribers.
Tekelec, a leading developer of telecommunications products for next-generation fixed, mobile and packet networks, is the global market share leader in network signaling. As a part of this agreement, Tekelec will use FSS' highly stable, integrated and interoperable products to develop next-generation telecommunication solutions for the service providers worldwide.
Elaborating on the reasons for selecting FSS, Mr. Ron Delange, president and general manager of the Network Systems Group at Tekelec, said, "We needed an expert with stable, interoperable products to support our extremely stringent performance and time-to-market requirements for our SIP-SS7 gateway. FSS' pre-integrated stacks met these requirements, and its SS7 and SIP product line enabled us to surpass our target of more than 1,000 calls per second."
Commenting on the customer win, Mr Ajay Gupta, Asst. Vice President & Head of Products Business, Flextronics Software Systems, said, "Reduced time to market, high performance and seamless interoperability are the key factors influencing the purchase decisions of telecom equipment vendors worldwide. At FSS, we are committed to meet these stringent requirements of our customers, and the order from Tekelec is a testament of this commitment".
Mr. Gupta added, "We are pleased that Tekelec, a globally trusted vendor with a track record of delivering high-quality, high-value signaling solutions to telecommunications operators, has chosen to work with FSS."
The Tekelec SIP-SS7 gateway enables legacy telephony carriers to provide IP-based, next-generation solutions without surrendering their legacy infrastructure. The solution will enable service providers to extend IN services such as toll-free calling and Local Number Portability (LNP) services for networks across U.S. This platform, which provides interworking solutions, is highly scaleable to offer a whole range of new value added and innovative services for both PSTN and SIP end users.
