Last week there was a tree-planting ceremony at Esfahan's nuclear site.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Amir Rahimi, head of the Centre for Nuclear Research and Fuel Production in Esfahan, noted that Iran's nuclear programme dates back to pre-revolutionary era. The current opposition to such programmes has to do with the enemy's old conflict with Iran and it is merely a pretext to exert pressure, he noted.
Referring to limiting Iran's access to nuclear technology as limitation of scientific knowledge, he said that besides being a national will, nuclear energy is considered as an economic strategy. Access to nuclear weapons is against Iran's military doctrine, he said.
He pointed to Iran as one of the world's eight countries possessing the nuclear fuel cycle and said that the country is one of the world's top nations with respect to the time of producing nuclear fuel.
During the ceremony marking Natural Resource Week, a number of twigs were planted at the nuclear site as a sign of Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.
