Two Iraq soldiers killed south of Baghdad
BAGHDAD, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) - Mortar rounds landed at a military base in Baghdad on Sunday, killing two Iraqi soldiers, police source told Xinhua.
"This morning mortar rounds hit the gate of the base, about 30 km south of Baghdad, wounding another nine, including three soldiers and six civilians," the source said.
In the same morning, a civilian worker from the Interior Ministry was killed by gunmen on his way to work in west of Baghdad.
Insurgents have stepped up their attacks upon Iraqi government officials and security forces after a relatively non-violent parliamentary elections on Dec. 15.
