Bucharest, 8 July: The Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) is strongly condemning the killing in Iraq of Egypt's ambassador to Iraq, Ihab al-Sharif, claimed by terrorists groups of the Al- Qa'idah ring, reads a release issued on Friday [8 July] by the MAE.
MAE says the killing was a villain crime against an innocent diplomat, whose mission was to strengthen cooperation between the Egyptian and Iraqi peoples, and it voices compassion to the family of the Egyptian diplomat, the Egypt authorities and the Egypt people.
"Such barbarian acts, which no ideology can justify, undermine security in Iraq and obstruct the efforts of the legitimate Iraqi authorities and the world community to ensure normalcy in Iraq, which is needed for the progress and prosperity of the Iraqi people," reads the release.
