Stargazer takes off carrying GALEX

The L-1011 Stargazer takes off from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The Pegasus rocket with GALEX is attached to the underside of the aircraft.
GALEX was launched at 8am EDT (12am GMT) on April 28th 2003. The Pegasus rocket placed GALEX into a nearly circular orbit at an altitude of 697 km (432 miles) and an inclination to the Earths equator of 29 degrees. Posted on: 19 Apr, 2005
