Alfonsino
The Alfonsino or Alfonsin (Beryx decadactylus) is a deepwater fish that is found in temperate and tropical ocean waters over most of the world except the Eastern Pacific. It is a member of the family Berycidae, and its name is also used to denote any member of that family as well.
These fish have large eyes and deep, compressed, silvery-red bodies, with blood-red fins. This is an adaptation to its deepwater surroundings. The red is filtered out of the light spectrum.
Along with other species of Beryx, the Alfonsino is commercially harvested, and usually called imperador, red bream, and Tasmanian snapper.
